SEPTARIAN or DRAGON'S EGG are a result of a unique geological phenomenon that occurred approximately 66 million years ago as a result of the K-pg extinction which wiped-out 75% of all life on Earth. It was widely accepted that volcanic eruptions were to blame, something as massive as the Deccan Traps. However, in January 2020 scientists could definitively claim that the end of the Cretaceous Period (which was also the end of the entire Mesozoic Era) was actually caused by a meteoric impact. Most sea life perished instantly, settling on the seafloor in a bed of mineral rich bentonite clay. Organic material decomposed creating gases that formed egg/sphere-shaped mud balls. The ocean receded which dried out the mud balls leaving concretions--the remnants of shells and other exoskeletons. The areas formerly occupied by living matter were replaced with minerals like calcite, siderite, quartz and iron pyrite.

Although tragic, the K-pg event lead to the rise of Mammals and the beginning of the Cenozoic Era. Evidence of catastrophe like Septarian provide essential insight into understanding Earth and the Universe.

Madagascar has some of the best examples of Septarian in the world since these fossilized stones are often older and much darker, making them more valuable. Red and gold veins indicate an inclusion of Siderite and Pyrite which amplifies the stone's energy. Concretion stones are often used for protection, Septarian is most useful to fight against depression. Its grounding energy regulates and shields the physical, spiritual and mental energies. Septarian helps to communicate with Mother Earth activating the lower chakras. Although best for depression, other healing properties include relief for muscle spasms, blood disorders and kidney disease.
